From checkout to your first connection
Set your password, put IgniteRemote on the computer you want to reach, and connect from any browser. The words in quotes are what you will see on screen.
1. Set your password
Your account is made the moment checkout finishes. You choose its password once.
- 1Right after checkout, the page asks you to choose a password. That's it: you're set.
- 2Closed that page? Open the email “Your IgniteRemote account is ready” and press “Set your password”. The link works for 48 hours. Look in spam or junk if it isn't in your inbox.
- 3Sign in at console.igniteremote.com with your email and that password. The same login works in the IgniteRemote app.
2. Connect to a computer with remote desktop
Every plan includes remote desktop. You need the app on the computer you want to reach, and nothing but a browser on your side.
- 1On the computer you want to reach (Windows 10 version 2004 or later, or Windows 11), download and install IgniteRemote from the Downloads page. Windows SmartScreen may warn the first time: the page shows the file's checksum if you want to verify it.
- 2Open it. Under “How will this computer be used?” choose “Running the diagnostic software”: it's the choice that signs in with your account, for any computer that's yours. Sign in with your email and password.
- 3On “You're connected — one quick setup”, tick “Allow unattended access” if nobody will be at that computer to click “Accept”. On a shop PC, also tick “Enable Admin Mode” so it stays reachable after a restart; Windows asks you to approve. Leave “Add IgniteRemote to your diagnostic software” unticked unless this computer runs OEM software. Press “Finish setup”.
- 4In the console, open “Devices”. The computer is listed there; press “Connect”. It works from a laptop, a tablet or a phone.
Solo covers up to 5 computers and 2 sessions at a time, Pro 25 and 5, Automotive Pro+ 100 and 10. Pro and Automotive Pro+ can record sessions; recordings are under “Recordings” in the console.
3. Share a J2534 diagnostic tool
Automotive Pro+ and Tool Sharing plans only. Your technician works in FDRS, wiTECH, Techline or similar on their own PC while the vehicle interface stays plugged into the car at the shop.
- 1You, in the console: open “Tool sharing”, create a tool-sharing token and press “Copy token and steps”. The token is shown once. Send what it copies to the shop.
- 2The shop, at the car: installs the interface maker's J2534 driver, plugs the interface in and installs IgniteRemote. In the app it chooses “At the car”, pastes the token, presses “Continue” and then “Share this computer's tools”. Nobody at the shop needs an account.
- 3Your technician: accepts your invitation (step 4), installs IgniteRemote on their own PC, chooses “Running the diagnostic software” and signs in. They keep “Add IgniteRemote to your diagnostic software” ticked and press “Finish setup”. Then “Connect to a car”, pick the shop's tool, and choose IgniteRemote as the J2534 device in the diagnostic software.
Diagnostics run over any connection. Programming a module needs a direct, steady link and a battery charger on the car; IgniteRemote refuses a write when either isn't good enough. Full setup steps for all three people.
4. Invite your team
Everybody gets their own login, so every session shows who ran it.
- 1In the console, open “Team” and press “Invite a person”.
- 2Pick their role. A technician who will use shared tools gets the “Technician” role.
- 3They open the link in the invitation email and choose a password. The link works for 7 days.
If something goes wrong
I can't sign in, or I never set a password
An account made at checkout starts without a password you know. Open the email “Your IgniteRemote account is ready” and press “Set your password”. Can't find it? Use Forgot password: if you have never signed in, the email is called “Set your IgniteRemote password” and its link works for 48 hours. Check your spam or junk folder. Our emails come from contact@thekeybot.com.
The computer isn't listed under Devices
Make sure IgniteRemote is open on that computer and signed in to the same account. If it was set up some other way, read the 9-digit number under “Your device ID” in the app, then in the console open “Devices”, press “Add device”, type the number and press “Link device”.
I press Connect and nothing happens
Somebody at that computer has to click “Accept” unless unattended access is on for it. To reach it when nobody is there, open IgniteRemote on that computer and turn on “Unattended access”. Also check that “Allow remote sessions” is on and that the computer is awake and online.
The shop's diagnostic tool doesn't show up
On the shop computer, install the J2534 driver from the vehicle interface's maker and plug the interface in; the app says “No diagnostic tool found” until it can see one. Both computers should run the same, current version of IgniteRemote.
